The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority has announced that starting Monday, April 7, restaurants at Syracuse Hancock International Airport will transition to cashless operations. This change affects eateries operated by Delaware North, including Johnny Rockets, Dunkin', Palladino Farms, SYRenity Bar and Market, and Middle Ages Bar and Grill. The shift is part of a broader industry trend toward electronic payments for increased efficiency and security.
Delaware North Regional Vice President Andrew Altomare explained that the move to a cashless system will make transactions faster and more convenient for guests. "This shift enhances efficiency, allowing us to serve guests more quickly," Altomare stated. The company plans to introduce three new Mashgin self-checkout units to streamline the process further.
The transition to cashless operations is not limited to restaurants. Starting May 1, parking vendor SP+ will also stop accepting cash, following a similar trend among airlines at the airport. The new Designa parking system offers multiple faster payment options, including pay by QR code, tap to pay, and mobile pay, to reduce traffic backups and improve the exit process.
According to CNY Central, the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority believes that transitioning to cashless operations will ultimately improve the efficiency and security of airport operations and enhance the traveler experience.
The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority has been overseeing the airport since 2014, aiming to provide a seamless passenger experience while promoting economic growth in the region.
