Motorists in Central New York are seeing a slight decrease in gas prices, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). The average price for a gallon of regular fuel is now $3.13, down by one cent from last week and two cents from a month ago. This is in line with the state average, which also stands at $3.13 per gallon. Nationally, the average is slightly lower at $3.09, according to AAA's national data.
The drop in prices is attributed to lower oil costs, although AAA notes that the full impact may not be immediately felt by drivers due to factors like tariffs and the switch to summer-grade gasoline, which is more costly to produce. The national average for diesel fuel has also decreased to $3.63, with New York's average at $3.96, both down by one cent from last week.
For Central New York drivers, this decrease offers some relief compared to prices from a year ago, when the national average was $3.39 per gallon. The trend of falling prices is expected to continue, but fluctuations may occur due to market dynamics and seasonal changes.
