Traffic in DeWitt will be affected by construction on Interstate 481 starting Saturday (March 8). The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that both northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Exit 4 (I-690 West/Syracuse) and Exit 5E (Kirkville Road East) every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 26. This lane reduction is necessary for bridge work over the CSX rail yard as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project.

According to the NYSDOT, the construction schedule is weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. Motorists are urged to drive responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding, and multiple speeding violations could lead to license suspension.

The NYSDOT emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic control devices and reminds drivers that "lives are on the line; slow down and move over for highway workers." For more information and updates, drivers can visit the NYSDOT website or call 511.
