Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick has been tapped again to be a special prosecutor regarding an inmate death.
Fitzpatrick will be investigating the death of Messiah Nantwi at Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida County.
The actual facts around the incident have not been released but Gov Hochul has said there are indications that “extremely disturbing conduct” led to his death.
Like the case at Marcy Correctional, the State AG's office is recusing itself due to conflict of interests.
Fifteen employees involved in Nantwi’s death are on administrative leave.
