Public bidding is now open for the expansion of East Woods Skate Park in Syracuse. The City of Syracuse is seeking qualified construction firms to work on the project, which aims to enhance the popular skate park originally built in 2013. The skate park, officially opened in 2014, has experienced increased attendance over the years, prompting the need for expansion.

The City of Syracuse Department of Parks & Recreation announced that a pre-bid meeting will take place on Thursday (March 13) at 10:00 a.m. in the Engineering Conference Room at City Hall. Attendance at the pre-bid meeting is recommended but optional. Contractors will have the opportunity to visit the site following the meeting.

Interested construction firms must submit their proposals to the City of Syracuse Division of Purchase by 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (April 3). Sealed proposals will be opened and publicly read immediately after the submission deadline. According to the City of Syracuse's official bid notice, each bid must include a certified check or bid bond amounting to five percent of the total maximum bid price.

The expansion project follows a 2022 community engagement effort by the Parks Department to gather input and assess the needs of the skate park to improve user experience. Construction work is expected to commence in the summer of 2025, enhancing the facilities for the growing number of skate park enthusiasts in the area, as reported by CNY Central.
