Alfonso Davis has announced his candidacy for the mayoral race in Syracuse, marking his fourth attempt to secure the city's top position. Davis aims to secure a spot on the Democratic primary ballot scheduled for June. He joins four other Democrats vying for their party's nomination. In addition to the Democratic contenders, former Syracuse budget director Tim Rudd is running as an independent, while Thomas Babilon has been endorsed as the Republican candidate.
Current Mayor Ben Walsh is unable to run for re-election due to term limits. Davis's entry into the race adds another layer of competition as Syracuse prepares for a highly contested election season.
