A tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning (February 9) in Clay when a man driving an SUV collided with a snowplow truck, resulting in his death. The crash took place at approximately 2:39 a.m. near the intersection of Waterhouse Road and Morgan Road. According to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, the SUV, traveling north on Morgan Road, rear-ended a Town of Clay Highway Department snowplow truck.
Upon impact, the SUV caught fire, trapping the driver inside. Emergency responders arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the cause of the accident. As of now, no further details have been provided regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash.
