A funeral service will be held this weekend for Gia and Gavin Myers, siblings who tragically lost their lives in a car crash. Friends and family will gather on Saturday (February 8) at Eastern Hills Bible Church on Cazenovia Road in Manlius, with calling hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the funeral at 4 p.m.
Gia, 17, and Gavin, 15, were students at Fabius-Pompey High School. Gia was driving them to school last week when she lost control of her vehicle on snow-covered Route 91 in Pompey, leading to a collision. Gavin died at the scene, and Gia succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday (February 4).
The siblings were remembered for their talents and close bond. Gia was a senior, involved in numerous activities, including cross-country, cheerleading, and the National Honor Society. She aspired to become an elementary school teacher. Gavin, a 10th grader, was known for his love of music and speed skating. He played in several music groups and was a member of the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony.
The siblings are survived by their parents, Gina and Bob Myers, and other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fabius Pompey School District to support the programs Gia and Gavin loved.
