A tragic accident in Pompey has claimed the lives of two siblings from Jamesville. Seventeen-year-old Gia Myers, who was critically injured in a car crash last Thursday (January 30), has passed away. Her brother, 15-year-old Gavin Myers, died at the scene. The accident occurred on State Route 91 when Gia lost control of her vehicle on a snow-covered road and collided with another car.
The siblings were students at Fabius-Pompey School District, where they were both recognized for their academic and extracurricular achievements. Gia was a senior ranked among the top 10 students and was recently featured in the school's senior spotlight. She aspired to become a teacher and eventually a superintendent. Gavin, a sophomore, was a talented musician, known for his performances in the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony and his achievements in various music festivals.
The New York State Police are investigating the crash, focusing on the snowy road conditions as a contributing factor. The Fabius-Pompey School District has expressed its condolences and is providing support and counseling to students and staff affected by the tragedy.
