Salina motorists will encounter a lane closure on Interstate 81 southbound today (January 8). The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that traffic will be reduced to one lane between Exits 27 and 26, near Mattydale and Syracuse Airport, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This temporary closure is necessary to remove scaffolding from the Airport Boulevard Bridge.

The NYSDOT advises drivers to allow extra travel time and to slow down in work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding. The construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. For the latest updates, motorists can visit the NYSDOT website or call 511.
