An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Cicero a few months ago. On Tuesday (January 7), the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 52-year-old Eileen Abourouaine. She has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, a felony, after allegedly causing a crash that resulted in the death of 67-year-old Steven Burgwin.

The incident took place on October 3, 2024, when Abourouaine made an illegal U-turn on South Bay Road. According to CNY Central, Abourouaine was waiting in traffic before she abruptly pulled out of her lane to make the U-turn into oncoming traffic. Burgwin, who was riding his motorcycle in the opposite direction, collided with Abourouaine's vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Abourouaine was taken into custody on January 6 and has been released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Cicero Court on January 21. Syracuse.com reported that the crash involved Abourouaine's Subaru SUV and occurred around 9 a.m. on the day of the incident.
