The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is notifying drivers about lane reductions on Interstate 690 in Syracuse and the Town of DeWitt. The lane reductions will occur on Wednesday (December 18) and Thursday (December 19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to facilitate overhead sign inspections.

Eastbound traffic on I-690 will be reduced to one lane between Exit 15 and Exit 16S-16N-17, while westbound traffic will face lane reductions from Exit 16N-S to Exit 15. The NYSDOT emphasizes that construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding. According to the NYSDOT, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of a driver’s license.

For more information and updates, drivers can visit the NYSDOT website or use the 511NY mobile app.
