The Hearth on James assisted living facility in Syracuse will soon close its doors. The building has been sold to a local healthcare provider and will be transformed into a substance abuse and behavioral health center. Residents currently living at the facility will be relocated to the Hearth at Greenpoint in Liverpool, New York, before the planned closure on February 1.
According to WSYR-TV, the Hearth on James is committed to covering all moving expenses for its 49 residents. The new location at Greenpoint offers more residential living space, allowing residents to remain close to their friends. The facility will stay open until all residents have moved, even if it means extending beyond the official closure date.
Employees of the Hearth on James will also have the opportunity to transfer to the Greenpoint location. If they choose not to move, Viva Senior Living, the company managing the transition, will assist them in finding new positions elsewhere. The campus director is working closely with residents and their families to ensure a smooth transition.
