A new urgent care facility has opened on the campus of Onondaga Community College in Onondaga. The clinic, located in Residence Hall C near the main entrance off Route 175, was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday (December 5). It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The facility, a collaboration between Syracuse Community Health and the college, aims to provide accessible healthcare to students, college employees, and community members. It will cater to patients with non-threatening symptoms like ear, nose, and throat issues and will offer rapid testing. Behavioral health services are also available by appointment.
The college president noted that students had expressed a need for such a health center on campus, leading to its strategic placement for easy access. The clinic's clinical administrator, Jessica Yoxall, emphasized the importance of making these services available, especially given the increased demand since the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to WSYR, the need for the clinic was highlighted by the frequent visits of students to the main Syracuse Community Health site, which is an 11-minute commute from the campus.
