Central New York is once again preparing for snowfall that is expected to disrupt travel today. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Onondaga County until 10 a.m. this morning, and Oswego County is under a lake effect snow warning until 7 p.m.
The snow is expected to cover roads and make them slippery, potentially causing issues for the morning commute. Drivers are being urged to take note of the conditions and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
According to a report by WSYR-TV, the lake effect snow is slowly moving south overnight through the Syracuse area. The most persistent snows could result in some areas receiving up to 4 or 5 inches by daybreak.
The report also suggests that the Syracuse area and surrounding suburbs, especially the western ones, are likely to see a coating to 2 to 3 inches of snow late into the night and at the start of the day.
The lake effect snow showers are expected to continue throughout Monday in the Eastern Finger Lakes, including the Syracuse area, with some sun also predicted. An additional coating to an inch or two of snow is possible, but no significant snowfall is expected.
