The Onondaga Lake Parkway in Liverpool will be closed in both directions today from 5 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the annual Liverpool Turkey Trot. The closure will affect the stretch of road between Oswego Street and Park Street. The New York State Department of Transportation advises drivers to follow the posted detour via Old Liverpool Road during the closure period. The Department of Transportation announced the closure in a recent advisory.

The Liverpool Turkey Trot is a popular event that includes a kids race at 8:15 a.m., followed by a 5K and five-mile run an hour later. The event also features a Trotter Treasure Egg Hunt at Wegmans Playground and a dog walk alongside the Barking Gull. According to the event's official website, the post-race gathering will be held in the parking lot of the Barking Bull, with free post-race beer for all participants aged 21 and over.
