A 53-year-old man, identified as David Jones, tragically lost his life in a house fire in Syracuse, New York, over the weekend. The fire occurred on Burnet Avenue, where Jones was found unconscious inside an apartment. Despite the efforts of first responders who performed CPR at the scene and rushed Jones to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The fire was reported around 6 p.m. on Saturday, with firefighters arriving at the scene to find large amounts of smoke emanating from the second floor of the house. Due to the intensity of the smoke, heat, and ongoing fire, firefighters had to extract Jones from a second-floor window. The fire was brought under control within 18 minutes and declared extinguished after another nine minutes. The second floor of the home sustained extensive fire damage.

The Syracuse Fire Department has deemed the fire accidental, but the exact cause is still under investigation, according to CNY Central.
