Syracuse Man Arrested After Striking Trooper With His Car

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Syracuse man has been arrested after striking a State Trooper.

State Police say Trooper John Zayas Jr. was working a Safety Checkpoint at East Calthrop Avenue and 81 northbound ramp in Syracuse when he observed 26 year old Mekhi Flagg on his cell phone.

Trooper Zayas motioned for him to pull over but Flagg refused and and started to drive away striking the Trooper with his driver side door, knocking the Trooper to the ground causing injuries to his right hand and arm.

Flagg was tracked down and arrested on DWAI charges and Reckless endangerment.
