Syracuse Mother Charged With Manslaughter In 5-Year-Old Daughter's Death

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Syracuse woman has been charged with first degree manslaughter after the death of her 5-year-old daughter

Syracuse Police say 29 year old Latasha Mott allegedly hit her daughter - Nefertiti Harris - with a belt multiple times leading to the child's death.

The investigation began after family members shared concerns about the child's absence.

Police were interviewing Mott, who informed them of the death and that she allegedly hid the child's body in some woods for three months.

Police are currently looking for the body in some woods near Cummings Field in Syracuse.

Mott is charged with Manslaughter in the 1st degree and Concealment of a Corpse .
