Syracuse, N.Y - Onondaga County Sheriffs are issuing a Boating Advisory for County Waterways including the NYS Canal System.
Its all due to recent rains.
Boaters are urged to use caution as there are very strong currents, lots of debris and water levels continue to rise.
Boaters are urged to report hazards to 9-1-1. Deputies say there are numerous hazards which are now hidden by the high water and they remind people of the importance of wearing your life vest.
In addition to the advisory, the Sheriff's Office is reminding boaters that they are civilly and criminally responsible for their wake and any damage they cause. The water levels are high, and any wake could significantly damage property.
