UPDATE: Syracuse Police have identified the 17 year old girl shot dead as Karlianne Short.
Syracuse, N.Y. - It was a deadly 4th of July in Syracuse with two fatal shootings.
Police were patrolling Park Street on the city's northeast side around 8pm when they saw a man with a handgun shoot at another.
As the pursued the shooter he fell and shot himself. He died at the hospital.
As is the case in an Law Enforcement involved shooting the State Attorney General's Office will conduct an investigation.
Two hours later, around 10pm, Officers responded to shots fired call on East Fayette Street.
The victim of that shooting a 17 year old girl who had been shot in the back, had already been taken to the hospital where she died.
