NY Health Department To Reverse Vaccine Mandate For Health Care Workers

Rochester, N.Y - The state is reversing course and is repealing its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers.

Attorney for the state Jonathan Hitsous told judges about the decision in Rochester's federal court this morning saying the State Health Department is about to announce that they will repeal the mandate.

He said the health department will have a public statement about the decision soon.

The state vaccine mandate took effect in September 2021 and led roughly 34,000 health care workers to either be fired or quit.

The departure of those healthcare workers caused massive staffing issues at many hospitals across the state, and continues to do so.
