Hostage Situation Ends Peacefully In Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. - A hostage situation in Syracuse ended peacefully Tuesday morning

A little before 9 Tuesday morning Onondaga County Sheriffs Deputies attempted to serve a violation of parole warrant at a home in the 2200 block of Midland Avenue.

57 year old Cleveland Samuel Brantley was home at the time, but he immediately went back into the house pulling a 10-year-old girl, who was a relative, with him eventually winding up in a bathroom, refusing to leave.

No weapons were involved.

Onondaga County Sheriff’s Patrol and SWAT team members responded to the scene, with the assistance of Syracuse Police Department and State Parole officers.

Some residences in the area were evacuated by responding officers.

About 2 hours later Brantley released the girl, and a few minutes after that was taken into custody without further incident.
