Syracuse To Start Deer Culling Program Next Week

Syracuse, N.Y. - The City of Syracuse to conduct another deer culling to reduce the population.

The program will be carried out by Specially-trained shooters from the United States Department of Agriculture starting next Monday, December12th and continuing through March.

They will work only at night, between the hours of dusk to dawn. All sites are closed to public access when work is conducted. No wildlife management officer should be accessing private property without permission. Residents should call 911 if you see suspicious activity on public or private property at any time

This targeted removal of deer is done to address the impact of overpopulation such as deer-vehicle accidents; damage to parks, gardens, and the ecosystem and public health risks, such as Lyme Disease.
