Parish Couple Arrested For Animal Cruelty: Owner Wanted To Shoot the Dogs

Parish, N.Y. - A Oswego County Couple have been arrested for animal cruelty after State Police found several dogs had porcupine quills in the face, neck and body.

41 year old Christina LaValley, and 42 year old John Paul Barton, both of Parish, said they couldn't afford to take the dogs to the Vet and they intended to shoot them.

The dogs were unable to eat or drink when they were taken to the Emergency Vet Hospital. The vet said the quills had been in the dogs for awhile and that the animals were emaciated.

The two face 4 counts of Animal Cruelty, a class “A” misdemeanor.

LaValley and Barton were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Parish Town Court.
