Oneida Shores Beach Closed To Swimming Due To E. Coli

UPDATE: August 4th. Some good news just in time for the Heat Wave. Swimming can resume at Oneida Shores Beach in the Town of Cicero. The levels of E. coli. have now dropped to acceptable standards and therefore the beach has been reopened.

Town of Cicero, N.Y. - The Onondaga County Health Department says Oneida Shores Beach is being closed for swimming due to high levels of E Coli.

Swimming at the beach in the town of Cicero will not be allowed until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels. The Health Department will be monitoring the water daily.

Most varieties of E. coli are harmless or cause brief diarrhea. While only some types of bacteria will cause gastrointestinal illness.
