Rochester, N.Y. - A Rochester police officer is dead and another is injured after being shot in the line of duty.
Officials say they were struck by gunfire last night after a man approached the officers in the area of Bauman Street and shot them. Both officers were rushed to nearby hospitals and one of them was later pronounced dead.
These shootings happened just hours after Mayor Malik Evans declared a gun violence state of emergency in the city.
