Syracuse, N.Y. - The Carrier Dome will get a new name soon.
Back in 1979 Carrier made a lifetime sponsorship deal with Syracuse University to name the Dome after their company. Sportico.com is now reporting that the university has reached a deal with Carrier to end their original "lifetime" naming rights deal allowing SU to enter into an agreement with JMA wireless.
No word yet on what the actual name will be. Sources say an announcement regarding the name change is expected in a few weeks.
