Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin Arrested On Campaign Finance Fraud Charges

Albany, N.Y. - Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin has been arrested on campaign fraud.

Benjamin has reportedly surrendered himself for arrest on a federal indictment connected to a campaign finance scheme involving his failed campaign last year for New York City Comptroller.

As first reported by The New York Times, Benjamin is accused in the indictment of directing state funds to a real estate investor who then orchestrated illegal donations to his campaign.

Benjamin's campaign fundraiser, Gerald Migdol, was arrested and charged with wire fraud in November.

The Lt. Governor will be in court this afternoon.
