Onondaga County To Foreclose On Great Northern Mall

Syracuse, N.Y -Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announcing today that the county has begun foreclosure actions against the owners of Great Northern Mall.

In a Zoom call, McMahon said the mall owes the county over 5.3 million dollars and has had many issues regarding the operations and maintenance of the mall. McMahon said after failing to honor their repayment plan and constant code violations and tenants having to deal with unpredictable conditions, the county decided to take this action.

He said "The days of out-of-town landlords failing to pay their taxes while simultaneously depreciating their properties are over. We held Moonbeam responsible when it came to Shoppingtown Mall and we are doing the same with the owners of Great Northern Mall."

The lawsuit should not have any immediate impact on any current tenants of the mall.
