Onondaga County Sets COVID Case Record Today, Could More Than Double Friday

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said there were 768 new cases of COVID-19 today beating the record of 600 on Christmas Day but the scary news was, tomorrow the number could be 1700 to 2100 new cases.

Today case number, beats the previous record of 600 Christmas Day. There are 139 in the hospital with 21 in ICU. He announced two more deaths both women. One in her 30's the other in her 80's both with underlying conditions.

McMahon said "we knew that was going to happen....this isn't a time to panic".

He said the county will continue testing next week.

He also cautioned businesses with the huge jump in cases that they should begin preparing for workforce issues that may be with us for more than just a couple of days.
