Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announcing today 477 new cases of Covid 19.The is the second highest daily number of cases since the pandemic began.
McMahon said 92% of those are under 59 yrs old. He said there are 133 people in the hospital battling the virus, 34 in the ICU.
He said there were no new Hospital deaths but the state is reporting one nursing home death.
McMahon said "we knew we would see high cases with omicron and they are here."
He encouraged people to use the tools we have, testing, vaccination, boosters and wearing masks.
Next week the county will begin to distribute at home test kits.
