Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced today that they will open a new Covid-19 testing site for kids and school staff. This is for kids who may be sick with allergies or have cold symptoms who can't return to school until they test negative for the COVID.
The new site will be at the Hamilton Street Boys & Girls Club in Syracuse. It will operate 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Appointments are necessary and can be made online. You can access the website by clicking on this link.
McMahon said they hope to have the results from the tests in parent hands by that evening so they can take them to the school. He emphasized to school administrators that the test results will be all that's needed for students to return to classes.
As far as the numbers regarding COVID-19 in the county. McMahon said there were 158 new cases, with 88 in the hospital and 25 in ICU with 92% of those unvaccinated. He was sad to announce 3 more people died from COVID in the past 24 hours.
McMahon said that they gave around 400 booster shots at the clinic at the Oncenter today and they have already scheduled 500 tomorrow. He said they will announce other clinic in the near future.
