Three People Still Recovering Following Boat Crash On Oneida River

Brewerton, N.Y. - Three people are still recovering after being involved in a serious boat crash on the Oneida River.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says the collision involving two vessels happened Wednesday night near the Route 11 bridge in Brewerton. All three of the victims were taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The operator of impacting vessel, 34-year-old Michael Cohen of Liverpool sustained injuries to his midsection and face. Investigators say that Cohen was unfamiliar with the throttle system and that he was not boating drunk or drugged. His passenger suffered a leg injury.

The boat that Cohen sped into head-on was being operated by a couple from Brewerton. The passenger of that boat was hospitalized with a head injury. The operator was treated at the scene. he hospital.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. So far, no one has been ticketed in connection with the accident but police are still investigating
