Syracuse, N.Y. - As summer fun is beginning in Central New York boaters are urged to be careful and obey speed limits.
Onondaga County Sheriff’s will be stepping up enforcement of boating laws after they say they have received an extraordinary amount of complaints regarding vessels speeding in the canals and waterways.
Lock 23 in Onondaga County sees the most traffic in the State.
The canal speed limits are there to make it safe for everyone and protect private property owners, along with public and canal infrastructure according to the Sheriff's Office.
