State Legislative Session Ends: What Passed, What Stalled

The state legislative session has ended in Albany with some work incomplete.

Lawmakers approved a bill that prevents parolees from going back to prison for non-criminal violations of parole. However, there was no final debate on bills granting parole or parole hearings to some older inmates who have not completed their prison time.

Bills extending alcohol-to-go sales at bars and restaurants stalled. Additionally, there was no action on a proposed moratorium on the use of fossil-fuel power plants for digital currency mining. Lawmakers did pass a bill that allows people to use a gender-neutral "X" as a gender marker on driver's licenses and birth certificates.
