Oswego, N.Y. - Oswego County Sheriffs are warning residents of a potential scam.
Many are receiving letters asking for donations to help purchase bulletproof vests for Deputies.
The Sheriffs office assures the public that all their deputies have vests already and they have adequate funding to purchase vests when needed.
They also say that they have never received any money from the organization that is represented in the letters.
These letters are being reported all across the country.
