Mets Avoid The Worst With Jacob deGrom And Upcoming Schedule Preview

Jacob deGrom’s injury to his right side does not appear to be serious. While he was placed on the 10-Day IL, his MRI proved “clean of any issues.” Meanwhile, the Mets are still in first place, as the Marlins lost last night and the rest of the division was off. An MRI found no structural damage in Jacob deGrom’s right side, so while he was placed on the Injured List, he will be eligible to return as soon as May 21.

ROTATION: Since the Mets have an off day on Thursday, they can bring back Marcus Stroman and Taijuan Walker we could see another bullpen game, which, given the success of the pen so far, suddenly isn’t as scary as it would have sounded a month week ago.

Next Up For The Mets: The Baltimore Orioles and former star pitcher Matt Harvey. He Goes tomorrow. Tonight thou it will be Marcus Stroman squaring off against left-hander John Means At Citi Field. The Orioles ace will make his first start since pitching a no-hitter against the Mariners last week. The Mets On Sunday recalled right-hander Drew Smith and optioned Trevor Hildenberger to the Syracuse Mets. Smith had been battling shoulder soreness, which kept him off the active roster to start the season.

The Mets are home tonight and tomorrow at 12:10 and then hit the road for the longest road trip of the season so far a 9 game trip begins after an off day on Thursday thru Tampa Bay this weekend and then three games in Atlanta Monday to Wednesday. The Amazin's then wrap up the trip next weekend in Miami.
