Telecomm Companies Sue NY Over $15 Broadband Requirement

Industry groups are suing to block a new state law that forces internet providers to offer $15 monthly broadband service to low-income customers.

The plaintiffs includes the New York State Telecommunications Association and several related trade groups, representing Verizon, AT&T and other companies. The lawsuit claims broadband has never before been subject to rate regulation by the state or federal government.
