Onondaga Co Exec Ryan McMahon Says Testing Still Key In COVID-19 Fight

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon today said the virus is beginning to affect the younger people as they are the ones who have not been vaccinated yet for the most part

He said the key is to continue testing, especially those under the age of 17 so that if a case is discovered it can be stopped from spreading quickly.

McMahon said that there are 92 new cases of the virus, 56 of them being in people under 30. He also announced another death of a 74-year-old man. That brings the death total so far to 697. The 7-day positivity rate stands at 1.5%, and the daily rate is lower at 1.1%.

He said they will be vaccinating Liverpool High School students tomorrow and will have a pop-up clinic at Abundant Life Chruch.

He said on April 30th there will be a Pfizer clinic at the OnCenter.
