Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has signed a bill into law that allows for family members to visit loved ones in long-term care facilities at any time.
Under the new legislation, each nursing home resident can designate up to two “caregiving visitors’'.
They would be allowed to come into the nursing home even if it is locked down because of Covid-19 or another disease.
The visitors will still have to submit to temperature checks, health screenings, and follow PPE guidelines.
This comes as nursing homes are still working on establishing rules for vistations after the New York State Health Department expanded the guidance for nursing homes last week.
