Albany, N.Y. - New York state lawmakers have agreed to a deal to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
During his briefing today Governor Cuomo said he's making legalization a top priority in budget negotiations in Albany.
The Wall Street Journal reports the deal would let New Yorkers buy and possess up-to-three-ounces and grow plants for personal use.
One of the biggest issues was people driving while under the influence since there is no fool-proof way to determine how impaired they are at a traffic stop.
Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said that lawmakers had overcome that obstacle.
The bill will be likely introduced tonight and then lawmakers could vote on it as soon as next week.
