Syracuse Mayor Walsh And CE McMahon Take Action Against Skyline Apartments

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced today the city and Onondaga County have had enough of the deplorable conditions at Skyline Apartments.

Walsh said today that they are using both administrative and legal action to demand Skyline Apartments make security and health upgrades to the property or the city will seize the property. They have declared public areas of the apartment complex unfit for occupancy.

Walsh said he with his own eyes has seen the needles and feces, and unsafe conditions. He said no one should be forced to live in those conditions and deal with the violence.

The decision today by the City of Syracuse to declare Skyline Apartments unfit now allows Onondaga County to legally withhold rent payments and assist our clients in finding new housing.

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon in a statement said...."The health and safety of the community is our highest priority. The decision today by the City of Syracuse to declare Skyline Apartments unfit now allows Onondaga County to legally withhold rent payments and assist our clients in finding new housing.”

McMahon continued, “Onondaga County will continue to use every legal tool we have to hold these owners accountable."

Those owners are former Syracuse football player Tim Green and his son, who own Skyline Apartments through their company, Green National.

Tenants have shared horrific stories of the conditions at the property, since the tragic murder of 93-year-old Connie Tuori.
