Local Congressional Leaders Vote Against Gun Control Measures

Congress passed two gun control bills Thursday - but local Republican leaders were among those voting against them.

Both Congressman John Katko and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney said that the bills wouldn't do enough to keep guns out of the hands of violent individuals. One of the bills would require background checks for gun purchases from unlicensed or private sellers. The other would extend the background check review period from three days to ten.
