Albany, N.Y. - Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie has announced that he is authorizing the Assembly Judiciary Committee to open an impeachment investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo.
This comes after 6 women have accused Cuomo of sexual harassment. The 6th accuser says the governor aggressively groped her in the Governor's mansion, reaching under her blouse.
The committee will also look at the cover-up of nursing home deaths by Cuomo's administration.
Chairman Charles Lavine will lead the investigation, which is independent of the ongoing attorney general investigation.
The committee will be able to interview witnesses, subpoena documents, and evaluate evidence.
