State AG Taking Over Police Shooting Investigation

Albany, N.Y. - The New York Attorney General’s office announcing they are taking over the investigation into the shooting death of 17-year-old Judson Albahm.

Last Thursday police arrived at the scene of a mental health call on Apulia Road in Jamesville. Albahm, had left the area carrying an air pistol. He was approached later by police. After making threats, officials say that a Tropper, a Sheriff's Deputy, and two DeWitt Police officers shot and killed the boy.

The AG's office has exclusive authority to investigate and, if warranted, prosecute cases in which a law enforcement officer causes the death of an unarmed civilian, as well as cases where there is a significant question as to whether the civilian was armed and dangerous at the time his or her death was caused.
