Assembly Republicans Moving Forward With Impeachment Actions Against Cuomo

Albany, N.Y. - Assembly Republican Leader Will Barclay and members of the Assembly Republican Conference announced today they are going to move forward with procedures to impeach Governor Cuomo.

Barclay said that Cuomo made it evident yesterday when he announced that he would not be resigning that the only alternative left is impeachment.

The Republican leader said in order for Cuomo to be impeached it would have to be a bipartisan effort.

Recently several high-ranking Democrats such as Speaker Carl Heastie and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins have suggested that the Governor should resign. The two however have fallen short of supporting impeachment.

Cuomo has said repeatedly that he will not resign.
