SU Suspends Greek Chapter After Parties Cause COVID Cases

UPDATE: University Officials have confirmed that they have placed the Sig Chi chapter on an interim suspension for violating public health directives and the Code of Student Conduct.

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse University says 3 large parties are responsible for at least 20 new COVID cases on campus. The University said that it's likely there will be more cases in the future.

SU has suspended one Greek chapter for their involvement. It was not specified which fraternity or sorority was suspended.

Classes have only been in session for one week. According to officials, the parties occurred within the last six days.

The city of Syracuse and the State Of New York Health Department will get involved in the investigation as well.
