Deer Culling To Begin This Week In Syracuse

Deer culling will begin again in the city of Syracuse this week.

Any shooting will be done at night, and bait sites for deer are going to be at least 500 feet away from any occupied building. A deer management program was launched in 2019, after officials determined the animals can pose a risk to public health. Last winter, 159 deer were killed and over four-thousand pounds of venison were donated to local homeless shelters.
