Katko Announces Federal Funding For Onondaga Alcoholism & Addiction Inc .

Syracuse, N.Y. - Representative John Katko of the 24th district announced today that the Onondaga Council on Alcoholism & Addictions will receive $133,563 dollars in federal funding.

This new award provides Onondaga Council on Alcoholism & Addictions with the necessary funds to continue offering youth substance abuse prevention programming for the next five years. Katko said in a statement, according to the CDC, between June 2019 and May 2020, 81,000 Americans died from drug overdoses, the highest number ever recorded in a 12-month period.

Rep. Katko said, “Now more than ever, we must work to prevent addiction and ensure those with substance use disorders receive the treatment and support needed to recover."
